Street Photography in Dominican Republic 🇩🇴

Finally got the opportunity to do street photography in the motherland. My father invited me out there to vacation with a bunch of his friends and family…18 of them to be exact and though that’s wayy too many people for my liking, I’m extremely grateful I was able to break out of my comfort zone and make the trip. Haven’t been to Dominican Republic with him since 2001 so it was longgg overdue. Even though I was going to focus on being present with them, I wanted to take advantage of any opportunity I got to do street photography.

Initially I was a little worried how I would be perceived walking around taking photos. Since I already stick out of the crowd people always look at me first and then look down at the camera…almost every single damn time lol. Luckily I worked my way around it and after the first day began to feel more comfortable with my approach. Once I started asking a ton of people for portraits, I knew I was in the zone lol. The entire experience felt refreshing and it got my out of this photography slump I was in. These were some of my favorite images from the trip. Hope you enjoy them!

Side Note: I shot the photo of the two girls buying fruits while we were stuck in traffic. Two days later I’m looking over the photos and come to find out it was a friend of mine from Providence. Y’all can’t imagine how much this blew my mind 😭
